Catering for a commemoration: the memorial meal prepared and delivered

Commemoration catering means we prepare and deliver the memorial meal, sparing the family from cooking during a period of mourning. We include hot dishes, koliva, and colaci, with a fasting or non-fasting menu, for any number of guests.

What is commemoration catering?

Commemoration catering is the service by which we prepare the food for the memorial meal and deliver it to the chosen location. The family does not cook or manage the logistics — they receive the meal ready to serve.

It is a particularly suitable solution when there are many guests or when the family is in mourning and cannot cook. We also include the koliva and colaci, according to the tradition of the commemoration.

What our catering includes

The service covers everything related to the memorial meal:

  • Hot dishes — soup or sour soup, main course, side dishes
  • Koliva — prepared according to tradition, decorated with a cross
  • Colaci — for the service and for distribution
  • Sweets and fruit — to finish
  • Delivery to the chosen location — at home, at a hall, or near the church
  • Disposable tableware and cutlery, on request

The catering menu

The menu is adapted to the period and the family's preferences. We offer two main options:

  • Non-fasting menu — sour soup, stuffed cabbage rolls or roast meat, side dish, dessert
  • Fasting menu — for commemorations during a fasting period, without meat or dairy
  • Mixed options — combinations according to preference and the number of guests

For how many people?

We prepare catering for any number of guests, from a small family gathering to a commemoration with dozens of participants. Quantities are calculated according to the confirmed number of persons.

At major commemorations, such as the 40-day service or the one-year parastas, extended family attends; at monthly or annual commemorations, the circle is smaller. We adjust quantities accordingly.

Delivery and logistics

We deliver hot food at the agreed time, ready to serve. The location can be at home, at a hired hall, or near the church — whichever is most practical for the family.

We coordinate delivery with the time of the service so the meal is ready when the guests arrive from church or from the cemetery. We also arrange the table on request.

Catering, restaurant, or cooking at home

The family has three options for the memorial meal. Delivered catering is the middle path — without the burden of cooking, but at the location of the family's choice, not at a restaurant.

Cooking at home preserves tradition but requires effort and time. A restaurant is convenient but less personal. Catering combines convenience with the flexibility of location.

Catering or food parcels

When there are many guests or they travel from afar, food parcels can be offered instead of a seated meal. Many families combine both — a meal for close family, parcels for the rest.

We advise what suits each situation, according to the number of guests and the budget. See also our complete parastas packages.

How to order the catering

Tell us the date of the commemoration, the approximate number of guests, and the desired menu, and we prepare everything. For large commemorations, we recommend ordering a few days in advance.

We give you a clear estimate, with no hidden costs. Call us or see the free consultation page.

It depends on the number of guests and the menu. We give you a clear per-person or per-parcel estimate, with no hidden costs, before you confirm.

  • Is catering suitable for small commemorations?

Yes. We also prepare small meals for immediate family. There is no minimum number — we adapt the quantities to however many guests you have.

It is distributed to those present or to those in need, as pomană. Commemoration food is not discarded; it is passed on with the same thought of charity.

  • Do you offer catering on the Days of the Moșii as well?

Yes. We prepare meals and food parcels for the Moșii and the Saturdays of the Dead, when many families give pomană for all their departed. Order in advance on those days.

  • Can I taste the menu before ordering?

On request, yes. We can arrange a tasting for large commemorations, so you can choose the dishes with confidence.

  • Do you also provide drinks?

Yes, on request. We provide wine for the memorial toast, water, and soft drinks. Spirits are not appropriate at a memorial meal.
