SAL · EXTRAJUDICIAL MEDIATION

Alternative Dispute Resolution (SAL)

SAL is a fast and free mediation procedure between consumer and provider, as alternative to court. Regulated by Romanian OUG 38/2015. For sobru.ro, the competent SAL entity is ANPC. Procedure takes on average 90 days and is free for the consumer. Final decision is non-binding (recommendation), but often accepted.

When to use SAL

  • Problems with received services that can't be resolved directly with provider
  • Costs you consider unjustified or hidden
  • Delays or non-fulfillment of contractual obligations
  • Provider's refusal to refund owed amounts
  • Product quality (casket, monument) doesn't match contracted

How SAL works

Step 1: file the request with the competent SAL entity (ANPC for funeral services).

Step 2: ANPC analyzes the request and accepts or rejects the case (within 30 days).

Step 3: if accepted, a mediation session is scheduled between parties (online or in person).

Step 4: mediator facilitates discussion and proposes solutions. Final decision issued in 90 days.

Step 5: if parties accept, solution becomes binding. If not, case may continue to court.
