How we coordinate the memorial
Family notifies us 7-14 days before the planned date. We set: guest count, location (home, cemetery chapel, restaurant), chosen package, time.
We coordinate with the church for the memorial service (priest's fee 100-300 RON paid directly to church). We deliver the food package to the agreed location 1-2 hours in advance. We set up the meal, prepare koliva and breads. We provide assistance throughout the meal.
For cemetery memorials (after service), we bring the package directly there — short meal, just koliva and breads distributed to guests.
Memorial traditions — meanings
Koliva — symbolizes resurrection (the wheat that dies in the ground and rises). A candle is lit in the middle, rotated above the head in 4 cardinal points (prayer for the 4 directions).
Breads — the bread that unites generations. It's broken and shared with all guests.
Wine — symbolizes Christ's blood. Toast „God forgive him/her” and take a small sip.
Candles — each guest lights a candle for the departed's soul.
Food — meal solemnity is integral to remembrance — not just a meal, but a ritual of forgiveness and remembrance.
